Arsenal managed to salvage a point after a late equaliser from captain William Gallas to make it 1-1 from their opening Champions League match against Dynamo Kiev.

Adebayor, Robin van Persie, twice, and Cesc Fabregas all had good first-half chances for the Gunners.
Kiev scored when Bacary Sagna was adjudged to have pushed over Ognjen Vukojevic and Ismael Bangoura scored a 64th-minute penalty - only for Gallas to net two minutes from time at close range.

That was a close one, Arsenal needs to get their act together.  There's too much skill there to be scratching out draws with the likes of Dynamo Kiev.

Not a very start by Arsenal. They have to play some good quality football if they want to make a mark in the CL.If they continue this way they are in trouble.

Arsenal have always underachieved in Europe. Its hard to imagine that a club of their stature has never won the Champion's League ! With the likes of players such as Fabregas , Van Persie and Adebayor they really should be more potent in churning out results..

They've never won the CL?  Wow, I need to brush up on my history.  I think that last year was probably their best chance, if it wasn't for Man U being so good last year.

Nope they've never won it. In fact they've only been in the final once in the 05-06 season where they were beaten by Barcelona 2-1. Very strange considering the history of the club.
ManU and Liverpool have taken most of the glory in Europe having won  3 and 5 times respectively..

They were so bad in that final against Barca it almost wasn't true. They won't win it this season either - they're just not cut out for club competitions.

It's interesting how different Cups and Leagues are in terms of which teams do well.  There's totally different strategies and such, it's pretty interesting I think.
