Hi everyone! I'm stunned that France is faring so bad at the World Cup qualifiers. What do you guys think is the matter with them?

Could be that all their decent players have retired and that, as they aren't really a footballing nation, they have no real replacements.

Before people jump down my throat - a lot of France's best players were about as French as Mick McCarthy is Irish.

I think the replacements they have made are working against them.....and because of this their coordination is also working against them .......

I'm with you on this jimhaines...they really haven't been able to get a top-class nation together ever since the likes of Barthez, Zidane, Trezeguet and Pires retired from the game..

Barring a few top-level players they just don't have enough class at the moment to be competitive..

They are old, not enough young talent and not enough depth.  Just look at their Euro team, it's not going to get the job done.

The French team has too many old and tired guys.If they want some good results it is high time they start hunting for some young talent.

I'm sure there is some young talent in the ranks...but the trouble is that they can't just field any side at the biggest stage ! They are probably apprehensive of playing inexperienced players so they opted for the older players last time around and it didn't click..

There's going to be a shack up there soon.  I don't think they'll have problems qualifying (unless they want another Terror) but if they get out first round there'll be a miny coup in French football.
