Barnsley have got rid of Andy Ritchie. This was a guy who stabilised a club were struggling in League One and got them back into the Championship via the play-offs.

They were always going to struggle this season but firing the guy that brought the Tykes back to what should be their natural level is just f**ckin' stupid.

This is even worse than the Sheffield Wednesday sacking because Barnsley (despite one year in the Premiership) are not really a top flight club and Ritchie has done as well - if not better - than expected.

Who are the incompetents on the board of clubs like this? Why do they make these stupid decisions?

Barnsley were always favourites for relegation this term, but their board should have factored that in and aimed to come back bigger and better in 2007-2008.

If I was them, I wouldn't want to show my face in Barnsley town centre for a while. They're hard as nails up that way.

I reckon though Jim that his sacking was for personal rather than footballing reasons, espeically if you read the small-print of that story, there was a row over 'team strenghtening'

Its another case of a stupid, head-strong board getting ideas above their station.

Yup.

It just puzzles me that these boards can make such clearly bad decisions and yet never have to take responsibility for them.

They have the money, they have the power, it's their call. The thing is, decisions like this will always backfire on those that took them.

It is a bad decision and they might realize this very soon.Sacking a player is their decision but they should know who to sack and who to keep.
