Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet - who were managing Swindon at the start of the season and doing very nicely, thank you, have gone to manage Leeds United for the always charming and never reactionary Ken Bates.
On the surface, a good move. But I suspect this will do neither Wise nor Poyet's reputations any good. Swindon were on the up under their management, but Leeds have the look of a side who already know their fate. They may be the bigger club, but they are likely to get relegated, which will mess up a potential great management career for Wise. In case you forget, he managed Millwall and got them into Europe (having been thrashed by Man U in the FA Cup Final). |

| Who knows, its one of those situations where you can either slip into managerial mediocrity or become known as a miricle worker. If they think they can keep Leeds up then good luck to them, I don't think they woul dhave taken the job if they didnt think it was possible. | ||

| Dennis Wise, the most ironic surname in football, apart from Peter Crouch of course. Did well at Millwall and Swindon, but Leeds are a club in a terrible state, a fallen giant who still feels it is a 'big' club. Should stay up but only just. | ||

| I think they'll go down. I've a sneaky suspicion that Barnsley might stay up, starting with a win against Leeds this weekend. It's this kind of thing us Yorkshire folk enjoy. | ||

| Maybe the guys make a miracle happen. Who knows, Leeds could stay up and manage to surprise everybody. It's not over till the final whistle. | ||
