Last season Liverpool had a rock solid defence and had a nine game clean sheet record! This season I don't think we have had one clean sheet! The main focus has been on a better attack force but the defence has fallen apart. I think Rafa Should turn things around soon, the win against Aston Villa is a start.

Yeah, glad i didnt put Carragher back in my dream team.
I think maybe the fact that the team is ever the same may hinder the reliablity at the back. Last term it was the same partnerships week in week out, thats what Liverpool need, consistancy, but Mr Benitez isn't having any of it.

Personally, I'm beginning to think that Carragher isn't that good a player. He can tackle, sure, but when he gets the ball he never seems to know what do with it. This is particularly true when he plays for England.

Theoretically, Liverpool's defence should still be as good as it was a few years back, as Hyppia, Carragher, Riise are all still there. But Jose Reina is having a shocking season and, as danbodd says, there's too much switching around with Agger, Finnan and some other random blokes I've never really heard of.

Very true, Rafa Benitez needs to keep the same reliable defence so they can get used to each other in these positions, he is coming up to his 100th game of consecutive different teams! Maybe the same teams for two weeks wouldn't hurt! We beat Aston Villa, lets hope to the same next week.

Yeah, somethings just not right about Benitez recently.. I wouldn't be surprised if he was taking backhanders
Nah seriously though, consistancy is the key and thats what Liverpool's defence had last term. They were absolutely quality, but theres been too much chopping and changing, and we're not talking about one player at a time either

take anote from our book. quality keeper, reina makes so many mistakes.. had a good run but now he just looks shite. defence worktogether every match and are better for it. big names dont make a defence.. you need people who know what they are doing and who know what their teammates are doing

I think they(liverpool) always have tried to focus on a single aspect of the game....if they want to be the best in the league , they have to learn the every minute thing that can be a trouble for them....

Liverpool is a good team, but to win you've got to have the back line set.  You may be able to score 3 goals a game, but it doesn't matter if the other team can score 4.  Who's the dream defensive line up for Liverpool right now?
