Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has hailed his captain Steven Gerrard as the best midfielder in the world.

Do you agree or not?

I agree with you when you say he is not the best.He may be the best for Liverpool.But best in the world,NO CHANCE.They are so many other guys like Ronaldo,Deco and Ronaldinho.

That's a bold claim, but it's good to see a manager bragging about his players.  I don't think you can really choose one guy, Gerrard is definitely up there but what has Liverpool done recently that shows how good he is?  Kaka and Ronaldo (who will be world player of the year) won Champion's Leagues and other titles, so I think that's kind of a requirement to be named "the best."

Its an audacious statement by Benitez..grossly inaccurate. With the likes of Ronaldo, Kaka even his contemporary Frank Lampard he can't expect to be taken seriously with such comments..

But to be fair, Gerrard is among the most inspirational and hard-working players in the league..Definitely a great player, but far from the best
