Guide To Types of Football Bets
|
|
Most of the top online bookmakers offer a huge range of football betting markets alongside the more-obvious win or draw
options. We take a look at some of these football specific bet types.
Full Time Result (also called 1x2)
This is the most usual 'win' bet, where you bet on the home team(1) to win, the draw (x) or the away team(2) to win.
Please note: Extra time, golden goals and penalty shoot-outs are not
included in ANY football bet.
As an example, the 2006 World Cup Final between Italy and France was considered a draw by bookmakers.

First Goalscorer
Pretty self-explanatory. For those dull mid-table clashes for teams with a poor scoring record, you can even
pick 'no goalscorer'. Managed carefully and with multiple 'first goalscorer' bets on a single match, you can
do well with this market, but you need to pick your matches extremely carefully.
Correct Score
A bit of cunning research will reveal just how frequently 0-0 results occur in football and just how often the
home team wins 2-1.
Correct score bets don't usually have great odds, but a 0-0 correct score bet on, for
example, Aston Villa vs Everton could make one of the season's most boring fixtures that bit more interesting !
Scorecast
Well, it's better odds than the National Lottery, but this bet - which is a combination of the first goalscorer
and correct score bets - is just that. A lottery.

Half Time/Full Time (Also called Double Result)
This is one of our personal favourites. In this bet, you predict the outcome of the two halves of the match separately.
Your options are home side winning, away side winning or draw at half-time followed by the home side winning, away side winning or draw
at full time.
For example, you could bet draw/Manchester United on a match involving Man Utd and, say, Fulham.
To win this bet, the match would have to be drawn at half time, but won by Manchester Utd in full-time.
Just knowing that a majority of goals come in the last 20 minutes of a match and that home sides usually win tells you that
draw/home team is often a worthwhile, profitable bet.
Half Time Result
A straightforward bet on who will be winning or the draw at half time. The odds are often very short, but this is a football
bet that can help build your bankroll.
Number of Goals (Also Called Under/Over)
With this bet, you either have two or three options to pick from. Under 2 goals, 2-3 goals, 3 goals or more. Alternatively,
under 2.5 goals or over 2.5 goals. Odds can be quite short for this betting market.
Other Betting Markets
These can include 'number of corners', 'score at half time', 'last goalscorer', 'time of first goal' and more. The likes
of Bet365 and SportingOdds.com are well known for offering the largest number of football betting markets. We recommend you open accounts with both.
