Birmingham City vs Tottenham Preview

January 29, 2010   |   Written by : Jim Haines

New Birmingham City signing Craig Gardner is in contention to start for Alex McLeish’s side, while Tottenham defender Ledley King misses out.

King will be replaced at centre half by Sebastien Bassong, who will partner Michael Dawson in defence.

Still out for Harry Redknapp’s side is winger Aaron Lennon, but Niko Kranjcar is back in contention after missing the mid-week match with Fulham through illness.

Home side Birmingham City could bring new signing Craig Gardner into the starting line-up but it is more likely that the former Aston Villa man will start on the bench.

Blues boss Alex McLeish looks set to start with the same eleven that lost 3-0 to Chelsea in midweek, with Cameron Jerome and Christian Benitez leading the line in the absence of veteran Kevin Phillips, who has a groin strain.
