Chelsea vs Birmingham City Preview

January 27, 2010   |   Written by : Jim Haines

Joe Cole is set to start in midfield for Chelsea against a Birmingham City side who welcome back striker Cameron Jerome to their starting XI.

Jerome had an ankle injury that kept him out of Birmingham City’s FA Cup tie, but is fit and will start alongside Christian Benitez.

Elsewhere, Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has no new injury concerns and is set to name the same eleven that started in City’s last Premier League outing.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti will make a number of changes from Chelsea’s FA Cup lineup.

Joe Cole will return as will goalkeeper Petr Cech, defender Ricardo Carvalho and left-back Ashley Cole.

Out are Michael Essien  and Juliano Belletti, who both have knee injuries, while Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou don’t return from international duty until Thursday.

Nicolas Anelka and youngster Daniel Sturridge look likely to lead the line for Chelsea.
