Blackburn vs Wigan Match Preview

Jason Roberts returns to the Blackburn Rovers squad, while goalkeeper Chris Kirkland is missing for Wigan Athletic.

The return of striker Roberts from injury is timely as fellow forward Benni McCarthy is tying up the details of a move to West Ham United.

Roberts could start in tandem with Nikola Kalinic upfront.

Centre back Christoph Samba is suspended for this match and is set to be replaced by veteran Michel Salgado.

Back in contention is midfield playmaker David Dunn, who has recovered from a knock.

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez will bring new signing, Serbia goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic into the starting XI in place of the injured Chris Kirkland.

Also out is defender Mario Melchiot, who has a broken nose, although Hendry Thomas and Paul Scharner do return from suspension and injury respectively to add some bit to the Wigan team.

Fresh from scoring his first goal for the club, Jason Scotland could partner Hugo Rodallega in a 4-4-2 formation.
