Hull City vs Chelsea Preview
January 8, 2010 | Written by : Jim Haines
Daniel Sturridge is likely to start for Carlo Ancelotti’s Chelsea, while Hull City welcome back winger Stephen Hunt.
Hunt was rested for Hull’s FA Cup match but is set to come straight back into the starting line-up.
With fellow midfielder Seyi Olofinjana on international duty and Dean Marney a doubt, George Boateng could start in central midfield for Phil Brown’s side.
Centre back Paul McShane has overcome a hamstring injury, but is set to start on the bench, with Anthony Gardner and Kamil Zayatte the preferred central defensive pairing.
For Chelsea, the absence of Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou, Jon Obi Mikel and Michael Essien (all at the Africa Cup of Nations) means a reshuffled line up for manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Coming in are likely to be Michael Ballack and Juliano Belletti, with Florent Malouda preferred to Joe Cole on the left of midfield.
Nicholas Anelka will be partnered in attack by summer signing Daniel Sturridge, who impressed in Chelsea’s midweek FA Cup clash.
