West Ham Utd vs Man Utd Preview
December 4, 2009 | Written by : Jim Haines
Top scorer Carlton Cole is missing for West Ham United, while Paul Scholes and Darren Fletcher could return for Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester Utd.
Fletcher and Scholes missed United’s midweek Carling Cup match and could be recalled for this match.
Despite an impressive display against Spurs, Anderson looks set to drop to the bench.
Rooney and Berbatov will start in attack for Alex Ferguson’s team, with Michael Owen starting on the bench.
The return to fitness of goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar means Tomasz Kuszczak will drop to the bench.
Home side West Ham will have to do without striker Carlton Cole, who has a knee injury and midfielder Valon Behram, who is recuperating from surgery on his own knee injury.
Centre back Matthew Upson is rated doubtful with a hamstring strain, as is forward Alessandro Diamanti, who is suffering from a rib injury.
West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola is likely to bring in Danny Gabbidon at centre back with Zavon Hines and Robert Kovac also likely to start. Guillermo Franco will start upfront on his own in Carlton Cole’s absence.
