Tottenham vs Wigan Preview

November 22, 2009   |   Written by : Jim Haines

Tottenham centre back Ledley King is absent with a hamstring problem, while Roberto Martinez’ Wigan Athletic are still missing left back Maynor Figueroa.

Deputising for the Honduran will be former Spurs player, Erik Edman.

Figueroa aside, Wigan picked up no new injuries over the international break, so Trinidad international Jason Scotland and Columbia’s Hugo Rodallega will again start upfront for Martinez’ side.

In Ledley King’s absence, Michael Dawson is likely to partner Jonathan Woodgate in the Tottenham defence.

With goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini unlikely to play again this season after a motorbike crash, Heurelho Gomes will start and youngster Ben Alnwick will be on the bench.

After missing 3 weeks with an ankle problem, winger Aaron Lennon is back in contention and is set to start in place of David Bentley.

Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane are Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp’s preferred starting partnership in attack, with Peter Crouch on the bench.
