Johnson Signs With Liverpool

Former Chelsea and Portsmouth right back Glen Johnson has signed with Liverpool FC for £17million.
The 24 year old right back has put pen to paper on a four year deal, believed to pay the player around £80,000 per week.
It is believed that part of the deal wrote off the £7million pounds Portsmouth still owed Liverpool for the transfer of Peter Crouch in 2007.
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has defended the cost of the transfer, saying:
“Sometimes you have to spend a little bit more. You can’t compete in the top four of the Premier League unless you spend some money.
“We were looking for a quality British player because of the new Champions League rules. He fits both categories.”
