Arsenal Capture Vermaelen For £10m

23 year old Belgian centre-half Thomas Vermaelen has signed a £10million deal with Arsenal football club, after weeks of negotiations with his former side Ajax.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is quoted on the official club website, saying :
“Thomas is a great signing for Arsenal and we are all delighted that he is joining us. He is a solid performer with good experience of Champions League and Uefa Cup football.”
The player himself expressed his regret at leaving Ajax after eight years at the club, but added :
“I’m also looking forward to playing in the English Premier League, which for me, is the best league in the world. Also, I just want to assure the Arsenal fans that I will give everything for this club and I hope we can enjoy winning some trophies together next season.”
