David Moores Quits Liverpool Board
June 19, 2009 | Written by : Jim Haines
The former Chairman of Liverpool FC, David Moores, has resigned his position on the board of the club.
Moores, who became Liverpool chairman in 1991, sold his majority shareholding to American duo George Gillett and Tom Hicks after it became clear that Moores - who made his money with Littlewoods - would not be able provide the increasing amounts of investment required at the club.
Moores had become disillusioned with the way Liverpool FC has been run since the new owners took over, even going so far as to say he was “heartbroken and let down”.
Despite stepping down from the board, he will remain honorary life president of the club.
