With Carlton Cole, Emile Heskey and late call-up Darren Bent all out injured, England manager Fabio Capello has confirmed that Peter Crouch will start upfront alongside Wayne Rooney.

First choice ‘keeper David James will retain his place, with the fit again Rio Ferdinand returning to the centre of defence in place of Matthew Upson.

The midfield will be the same as the starting line-up against Slovakia in midweek, with Steven Gerrard again on the left side.

For the Ukraine, in form striker Andriy Voronin is likely to lead the line, with veteran Andrei Shevchenko having to take his place on the bench.

Ukraine manager Oleksiy Mykhailychenko will play a 4-5-1 formation, centred around Dynamo Kiev playmaker Oleksandr Aliev.
